Accents are a beautiful, important part of who we are. Truth is, everyone, everywhere has an accent. It all depends on your first language/dialect, what language you are actively speaking, and where you are, compared to the majority of speakers around you. For example, someone born in Canada will be told they have an "accent" when trying to speak Spanish in Columbia!
At Connect Speech, the approach to Canadian accent and pronunciation training is one of embracing one's own accent while also enhancing clear, confident communication in Canadian English. We address accent, as well as other important aspects such as: how to slow down rate of speech, how to do small talk well, how to use common expressions, and the rhythm/cadence of speech.

For multilingual speakers in Canada who speak English as a secondary language, they may have a solid grasp of the English language but experience ongoing challenges, such as:
Despite the speaker's best efforts, ongoing challenges lead to inefficient communication interactions (ex. needing extra time to clarify or repeat what was said), misunderstandings, reduced confidence, withdrawal, frustration and more.
This is where Connect Speech's accent and pronunciation coaching and training helps.
Speakers learn how to say tough sounds and words in Canadian English and learn how to enhance their Canadian English accent for the sounds and words that matter most to them, while simultaneously being encouraged to embrace and celebrate their "speaker identity".
As a result, speakers experience a boost in confidence, clarity and communication efficiency. This enhances their interactions in many ways, helping them reach important everyday, professional or social communication goals.
