Canadian English Accent Courses & Pronunciation training

how do I change my accent

Do you want to learn how to change your Canadian English pronunciation or accent?

Accents are a beautiful, important part of who we are. Truth is, everyone, everywhere has an accent. It all depends on your first language/dialect, what language you are actively speaking, and where you are, compared to the majority of speakers around you. For example, someone born in Canada will be told they have an "accent" when trying to speak Spanish in Columbia!

At Connect Speech, the approach to Canadian accent and pronunciation training is one of embracing one's accent while also enhancing clear, confident communication as you learn how to speak the sounds of Canadian English. Learn about enhancing accent, as well as other aspects of speech, like how to slow down when speaking, how to use common expressions, and how to sound more natural.

For multilingual speakers in Canada who speak English as a secondary language, they may  have a solid grasp of the English language but experience ongoing challenges, such as:

  • difficulty pronouncing certain English sounds/words
  • being misunderstood while interacting in loud social or work settings
  • being unable to speak up or provide input in a fast-paced business meeting
  • ...and so forth.

Despite the speaker's best efforts, ongoing challenges lead to inefficient communication interactions (i.e. needing extra time to clarify or repeat what was said), misunderstandings, reduced confidence, withdrawal, frustration, missed opportunities, and more.

This is where working with a Canadian accent and pronunciation coach can help.

Speakers seek Connect's services when they feel the need to learn how to "speak or sound like a Canadian", or "learn a Canadian accent". Learn how to improve Canadian English accent for the sounds and words that matter most to you, while simultaneously embracing and celebrating your "speaker identity" and your strengths as a communicator.

At Connect Speech, a world-renowned, research-based, well-trusted accent and pronunciation training program is used: Compton P-ESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language). The program is offered in 3 options on a 1:1 or small group basis.

Online or in-person accent training is available.
